Bahrain Launches New Portal for Golden Residency Program

Wednesday, Apr 30, 2025

On 10 April 2025, the Kingdom of Bahrain announced it had launched a new Golden Residency website and portal for applicants to check their eligibility and apply for the program.

Bahrain’s Golden Residency Program is designed to attract citizens from eligible countries to strengthen its economy. Professionals, retirees, property investors, and talented individuals can apply for Golden Residency in Bahrain via the new website.

The Golden Residency visa permits individuals and families to move to Bahrain, live, work, and invest without needing any additional visas. The Bahrain government has designed it to be an all-in-one visa that welcomes highly desirable citizens to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Bahraini officials have stated that the low taxation, high quality of life, and 100% foreign ownership across a wide range of sectors are key reasons citizens seeking to relocate should choose Bahrain.

Among other benefits, the Golden Residency program offers foreign citizens permanent residency, access to state services, and business start-up support. Bahraini authorities are keen to stress the family inclusion element of the Golden Residency program, where qualifying individuals can bring their close family members to Bahrain and enjoy the same benefits.

Currently, to be eligible for the Bahrain Golden Residency program, you must be one of the following:

  • Employee working in Bahrain for 5+ years, earning over BHD 2,000 during that time
  • Property owner or real estate investor with property valued at BHD 200,000 or more
  • Resident retiree who’s worked in Bahrain for 15+ years with an average pension of BHD 2,000+
  • Non-resident retiree with an average pension of BHD 4,000+
  • Talented individuals, such as entrepreneurs, athletes, and scientists, who meet specific requirements in their field
